From a hygeine perspective, it may be worth healing up that wound to reduce the odds of infection later. The ruin is probably not the most hygeinic place in its current condition, despite being a former pharmaceuticals building.

I've re-read this all again and am fully convinced that this is gonna be a chapter 23 reveal and Chris is leaning into the "wow masa, cool conspiracy theory" in order to preserve the surprise of the moment. The hints were deliberately placed but I sequence broke my way to the right answer.
